Abstrak

Physical condition is a fundamental determinant of performance in martial arts, as it supports the execution of techniques, endurance during matches, and responsiveness in dynamic combat situations. However, the physical readiness of athletes within centralized training systems requires systematic evaluation to ensure alignment with sport-specific demands. This study aims to analyze the physical condition profile of Central Java PPLOP martial arts athletes in 2026 based on sport, gender, and overall performance. This research employed a quantitative descriptive approach involving 40 athletes selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a comprehensive battery of physical tests, including aerobic endurance (VO₂max beep test), anaerobic endurance (300-meter run), strength (push-up, sit-up, pull-up, handgrip), explosive power (10-hop test and standing broad jump), speed (20-meter sprint), flexibility (sit and reach), agility (shuttle run), and reaction (reaction speed test). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics in the form of percentages. The results indicate variations across sports, with judo athletes predominantly in the good category (66.7%), pencak silat in the sufficient category (70%), and karate entirely in the sufficient category (100%). Wushu athletes were equally distributed between sufficient (50%) and poor (50%), while wrestling was dominated by the sufficient category (57.1%). Based on gender, both male (68%) and female (66.7%) athletes were predominantly in the sufficient category, although females showed a higher proportion in the poor category (26.6%). Overall, athletes’ physical condition was categorized as sufficient (67.5%), good (20%), and poor (12.5%), with no athletes in very good or very poor categories. In conclusion, the physical condition of PPLOP Central Java martial arts athletes is generally adequate but not yet optimal, highlighting the need for more specific, systematic, and individualized training programs.
