Achievement in karate is influenced not only by physical and technical abilities but also by psychological and behavioral factors, particularly training motivation and training discipline. Athletes with strong motivation and disciplined training behavior tend to demonstrate greater consistency, commitment, and competitive performance. Therefore, understanding the relationship between these factors and athlete achievement is important in supporting effective coaching programs. This study aimed to determine the relationship between training motivation and training discipline with the achievement of karate athletes at the Dojo of SMP Negeri 2 Brebes. This research employed a quantitative approach using a descriptive correlational design. The sampling technique applied was total sampling, involving 23 karate athletes as research respondents. Data were collected through training motivation and training discipline questionnaires, as well as documentation of athletes’ achievements obtained from competition records and championship certificates. Instrument testing included validity and reliability analysis using Cronbach’s Alpha, while prerequisite assumption tests involved Shapiro–Wilk normality and homogeneity testing. Data analysis was conducted using Pearson correlation analysis. The results revealed that training motivation had a very strong and significant relationship with athlete achievement (r = 0.984; p < 0.05). Training discipline also demonstrated a very strong and significant relationship with athlete achievement (r = 0.981; p < 0.05). Furthermore, training motivation and training discipline simultaneously showed a very strong relationship with karate athlete achievement. In conclusion, psychological and behavioral factors play an important role in supporting karate athletes’ performance. Improving training motivation and discipline can significantly contribute to enhancing athlete achievement and competitive success.
