Statistical Evaluation of Shooting Effectiveness in the U17 Boys’ Basketball Team at the AKJ Hoops 2025 Championship

Abstract

Basketball is a sport that requires high offensive effectiveness to generate points during competition. One of the most important indicators in evaluating offensive performance is shooting success rate, which reflects a team’s ability to convert scoring opportunities. Statistical analysis of shooting performance provides an objective overview of how effectively teams execute offensive plays during matches. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the shooting effectiveness of U17 boys’ basketball teams in the AKJ Hoops 2025 Championship. This research employed a descriptive quantitative design using a match statistical analysis approach. The data were obtained from official box scores of ten matches involving six teams: AKJ Dreams, Knight Semarang, Brave Semarang, The Lion Surabaya, AKJ Miracle, and Indonesia Thunder. The variables analyzed included field goals, two-point shots, three-point shots, and free throws, along with their respective success percentages. The results indicate that The Lion Surabaya demonstrated the highest shooting effectiveness, achieving a field goal percentage of 45.2% and a two-point percentage of 52.2%. Knight Semarang (34.2%) and AKJ Dreams (32.6%) also showed relatively strong shooting performance, while Brave Semarang (25.0%) and AKJ Miracle (23.2%) recorded lower shooting efficiency. These findings suggest that higher shooting percentages are closely associated with better offensive performance and scoring outcomes. In conclusion, shooting effectiveness plays a critical role in determining team performance in youth basketball competitions. The study provides empirical evidence that match statistical analysis can serve as a valuable tool for evaluating performance and developing more targeted training strategies for improving shooting accuracy.
