Badminton is one of the most popular sports in Indonesia and requires mastery of various technical skills, particularly the smash technique as an effective attacking stroke. Smash performance is influenced by several physical condition components, including wrist flexibility, which plays an important role in generating racket acceleration and shot accuracy. This study aimed to determine the effect of wrist flexibility on badminton smash ability among male students at SMA Negeri 2 Makassar. The study employed a quantitative approach using a descriptive correlational research design. The population consisted of all students participating in badminton learning and extracurricular activities at SMA Negeri 2 Makassar. The sample involved 20 male students selected using purposive sampling techniques. Data collection was conducted through tests and measurements, including a wrist flexibility test and a badminton smash ability test. The results of descriptive statistical analysis showed that the wrist flexibility variable obtained a mean score of 10.60 with a standard deviation of 1.759, while badminton smash ability achieved a mean score of 6.70 with a standard deviation of 1.301. Furthermore, hypothesis testing revealed a significance value of 0.013, which was smaller than the significance level of 0.05 (0.013 < 0.05). These findings indicate that there was a significant positive effect between wrist flexibility and badminton smash ability among the students. It can therefore be concluded that wrist flexibility is an important component of physical condition that contributes to improving badminton smash performance. Consequently, flexibility exercises should be integrated into badminton training and physical education programs to enhance students’ smash technique skills.
