Abstract

Futsal is a high-intensity sport that requires players to perform rapid movements and technical skills under dynamic game conditions. Among the physical components, agility plays a crucial role in supporting technical abilities, particularly dribbling in confined spaces and under defensive pressure. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between agility and dribbling ability in game situations among futsal players of Bintang Lima Futsal Club Semarang. This research employed a quantitative descriptive method with a correlational approach. The sample consisted of 22 male players selected using total sampling. Agility was measured using the Illinois Agility Run Test, while dribbling ability in game situations was assessed using the Game Performance Assessment Instrument (GPAI) based on video analysis of 3 vs 3 small-sided games (2 × 5 minutes). Data were analyzed using Pearson’s correlation test with the assistance of SPSS software. The results showed a correlation coefficient of r = -0.493 with a significance level of p = 0.020 (p < 0.05), indicating a moderate and statistically significant relationship between agility and dribbling ability. The negative correlation suggests that players with better agility (lower time scores) tend to demonstrate higher dribbling performance. Agility contributed 24.3% to dribbling ability, while the remaining 75.7% was influenced by other factors such as coordination, experience, and self-confidence. In conclusion, agility is an important but not dominant factor influencing dribbling ability in game situations. Therefore, coaches are encouraged to integrate agility training with technical and psychological development to achieve optimal performance outcomes.
