Abstrak

Small-sided games (SSG) are a modified Football training method designed to enhance players’ technical and cognitive abilities through game-based activities involving fewer players, smaller playing areas, and shorter durations. In modern Football, the integration of technical skills, such as short passing, and cognitive abilities, particularly decision-making speed, is essential for optimal performance. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the effect of small-sided games training on short passing quality and decision-making speed in Football. This study employed a quantitative approach using an experimental method with a one-group pretest–posttest design. The sample consisted of 36 students participating in Football extracurricular activities. The research instruments included a short passing skills test to measure passing accuracy and a game-based assessment to evaluate decision-making speed. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, while hypothesis testing was conducted using a paired-sample t-test. The results showed a significant improvement in both variables. The mean score for short passing increased from 61.08 (pretest) to 80.36 (posttest), while decision-making speed improved from 60.14 to 78.25. The paired-sample t-test revealed a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a statistically significant effect of the SSG intervention. In conclusion, small-sided games training significantly improves both technical and cognitive performance in Football. This method can be effectively implemented to enhance players’ short passing accuracy and decision-making speed in dynamic game situations.
