Extracurricular sports activities play an important role in developing students’ technical skills and motor abilities, particularly in badminton, where service is a fundamental component of gameplay. However, limited variation in training media often leads to low accuracy and consistency in students’ short service performance. Therefore, this study aims to examine the effect of using shuttlecock packaging media on improving the short service ability of badminton extracurricular participants at SMAN 4 Bojonegoro. The research hypothesis states that variations in shuttlecock packaging have a significant effect on the accuracy and consistency of short serves. This study employed a quantitative approach with an experimental method using a one-group pretest–posttest design. The research subjects consisted of 20 students selected through total sampling. The instrument used was a short service test adapted from Frech (1941). The treatment was conducted over 10 sessions using shuttlecocks with various packaging modifications. Data were analyzed using the Shapiro–Wilk normality test and the Paired Samples t-Test with SPSS. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ short service ability, with the mean score increasing from 23.10 in the prtest to 71.60 in the posttest. The Paired Samples t-Test revealed a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a statistically significant effect of shuttlecock packaging media on service performance. In conclusion, shuttlecock packaging media is proven to be a simple, effective, and easily applicable training alternative for improving badminton short service skills. These findings provide practical implications for teachers and coaches in developing innovative and cost-efficient training methods.
