Physical fitness is an essential component in supporting students’ health, movement performance, and participation in sports activities. Among the important components of physical fitness are arm strength and lower leg explosive power, both of which contribute significantly to various physical and sports activities such as jumping, throwing, pushing, and running. However, differences in the development of these physical components are often found among junior high school students. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the level of arm strength and lower leg explosive power of students at SMPN 1 Bangkalan. This study employed a descriptive quantitative method using survey techniques through tests and measurements. The sample consisted of 22 seventh-grade students selected through purposive sampling techniques. The instruments used in this study were the one-minute push-up test to measure arm strength and the standing long jump test to measure lower leg explosive power. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques in the form of frequencies, percentages, means, and category classifications based on standardized norms. The results showed that students’ arm strength was generally categorized as “Poor,” with the highest percentage at score 2 reaching 45.5%, and an average score of 18.45 push-ups per minute. In contrast, lower leg explosive power was predominantly categorized as “Very Good,” with the highest percentage at score 5 reaching 31.8%, and an average jump distance of 152.82 cm. In conclusion, there is a disparity between students’ upper-body and lower-body physical fitness development. A structured and systematic training program is needed to improve arm strength, while lower leg explosive power has demonstrated relatively optimal performance.
